It's been a long road since our most recent show in November 2019, but now Acting Out is ready to get back to what we do best: entertaining audiences and helping those in need, in a live performance setting!  But with COVID-19 still present in our community, we've had to think about the safest way to do so.  The answer: A variety show where different performers can rehearse on their own or in small groups, minimizing the risks of exposure and illness transmission.

StoneBridge Events in northeast Cumberland has generously offered us their gorgeous outdoor space with a covered tent that seats a few hundred in socially-distanced fashion.  That way we're able safely to bring together performers and audiences while not being at the mercy of a spring rainstorm ruining all our hard work.

Obviously we're looking for singers, dancers, actors, and bands who want to support our cause and finally get back to performing again after over a year.  But our creative team can't do this alone and keep all our performers as safe as possible from COVID.  If one of us is working with several groups and tests positive, that not only puts all those groups at risk, but it also jeopardizes the whole show.

So if you're a director, choreographer, or music director -- or if you've ever wanted to try your hand at it -- WE NEED YOU, TOO!  The more we can spread out the creative team responsibilities, the safer everyone will be and the more likely we'll be able to make this happen the way we all hope.

If you want to perform or assist on the creative team, please contact us at  In order to assign performers to groups that match the activities they would most like to do, please indicate on a scale of 1 (least) to 10 (most) your interest in performing or assisting in: 1) singing/vocal performance, 2) acting, and 3) dance.  If you have another idea, such as a short performance by your band, let us know that, also.  Once we have an idea of who wants to do what, we'll assign groups and facilitators and begin the process of putting together the show and our rehearsal schedules.

Feel free to ask any other questions you might have at the e-mail address above.  We want to put everyone's mind at ease about their involvement in live performance at what we all know is a tricky time to do so.

Thanks for your continued support through a difficult year-plus for the performing arts.  With your help, we'll be back better than ever!

As with every theatre company in the US, COVID-19 affected plans for our 2020 season of Next to Normal and Matilda.  We will provide more information on when we plan to stage these productions as public health authorities provide further guidance and as venues become available.
